2015

Hi parents of the SJA Youth CC camp!
We want to thank you for sending your athletes to our camp this week.  The weather has been very cooperative as were your children.  On Monday we talked about the basics of running form, went for a regular run, then watched video of our form.  Tuesday was a hill workout followed by a couple of games of "capture the flag".  Wednesday was "long run" day in which we encouraged running at least 2 miles with no walking.  We passed out water bottles and some snack goodies courtesy of Second Sole of Rocky River after the run, did some barefoot drills, knocked out some core, and played one game of "capture the flag" (by popular demand).  Thursday was "interval" day in which we kept track of each runners time for their grass loop of 400m.
Here is a link to pictures from the week.  I'm trusting this link works!  Click HERE

If that doesn't work please email me at fkieser@sjastudents.org or check our team website where I will also embed the link.  I'll be happy to attach any pictures you like for your own personal use.

thanks again to you and all the athletes!  Have a great fall!
Coach Fred Kieser
Go Jags!

2014

Welcome to 2014's camp!  Monday was a good start to the week.  We are 23 athletes strong with a wide variety of ability levels, ages, etc...we can all learn from everyone else.  Today we went for a grass run in the metropark behind SJA, video recorded our running form, and analyzed our own form in the classroom.

Here are some photos from Monday...click HERE

Tuesday-Thursday...we had some great, cool summer weather these days!  On Tuesday we did a hill workout, on Wednesday we did a "long" run (and some footwork skills after), and Thursday was an interval workout.  Pictures from all of them can be found in the link below.

I was absolutely amazed by the resilience, toughness, and character of this group.  If this isn't the best group of campers we've ever had then it has to be one of the best.  I hope they had fun and challenged themselves appropriately.

We sent the campers home with a small packet of papers from the week as well as a picture of the group on the front steps of the school.  Feel free to use any pictures you find on this website.

thanks again and good luck!  Coach Fred Kieser and the 2014 SJA CC team

From 2012

Hi!

This year's camp was off to a HOT start. Today the campers split themselves into groups, assigned themselves a "country" since this is an olympic year, learned a little about the olympics then filled in a crossword about muscles of the body to start the day.
We then when to the Rocky River Park behind the school to run some trails and on some grass. Many said it was their first run of the summer, so we didn't push too hard.
After that we did some "stations" on the track including some hurdle drills, abs/core, push-ups/yoga stretches, and a video tape station to watch form. We only recorded the video today and will be viewing it first thing Tuesday morning before we do hills.
