On Tuesday, the Jaguars hosted the 9th annual "Senior Night" meet, which featured JV races for SJA, Magnificat, Mentor, St. Ignatius, and St. Edward. With a last minute change of date to avoid bad weather, all the teams enjoyed a perfect day for cross country.
In the girls race, SJA took home the first 5 places to score a "shutout" and take the all time lead in the series vs. Mentor 5-4. Emma Hvizdos defended her title from last year with a strong last half mile to out-run teammate Bridget Chambers. In all, 13 Jaguars earned an all-time PR including senior Veronica Hewitt, who was named the teams "athlete of the meet". Also earning lifetime PR's includes; Kate Boland, Bridget Chambers, Victoria Holtz, Clare Jordan, Clare McCarthy, Molly McGlynn, Lizzie McGuire, Erin Owens, Cassie Roisman, Lizzie Ryder, and Grace Trepczyk. McCarthy and junior Bridget Boland also earned their varsity letters in this last competition of the season!
Next on the schedule is the post-season, which begins with the district meet this Saturday at Medina's Ella Canavan school. The top 5 teams and top 20 individuals will qualify for regionals the following week at Boardman High School.

Big Weekend to start October!
This past weekend the Jags split up the squad sending the Varsity A to Portage Invitational in Michigan, while Varsity B and the rest of the team went to the Legends meet in Trumbull County. Both squads had a great day and all but 4 runners ran their season's best time.
In Michigan, the team of Annie Allen, Amanda Keim, Ali Blouch, Carlee Blankenship, Marie Musser, Danica Hruby, and Sarah Scott did some amazing things that were firsts in program history. All 7 runners broke 20:00, which is a first in school history, and 6 of the 7 ran a lifetime PR. As a team, they finished 4th out of 37 teams and beat Michigan's #4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, and 16th ranked teams in Div I in the process.
At the Legends meet, the team of Anna Duesenberg, Bridget Chambers, Colette Conway, Emma Hvizdos, and Lizzie McGuire finished 7th out of 19 teams at a very competitive meet.
Overall it was one of the best weekends in SJA cross country history! Congrats to all!
Next is the NCL meet on October 12th being held at NDCL.

Update on the 2019 Season
Sorry for the lack of posts this year....busy, busy, busy!
Running-wise we have had a very successful season. As of publishing (Oct 3rd), the team is on a two-meet win streak, having won at both the JB Firestone and Gilmour Invitationals. Gilmour was especially good as the team won both the varsity and JV races and had the individual winners as well (senior Annie Allen in the varsity and junior Bridget Chambers in the JV race).
The team is really coming in to form with some great practices lately, which is perfect because the cooler temps and faster courses are waiting for them. At the moment 12 runners have earned their varsity letter time (22:00 one time, or sub 22:30 2x), but more are hungry to get that letter!
See the rest of the website for the history, updated all-time lists, this years results, and so much more.
This weekend the team is split, with the top 7 going to Portage, Michigan and the rest of the team representing at The Legends in Trumbull County. The following weekend is the North Coast League meet at NDCL.
We wrap up the season with senior night at South Mastick Picnic Area on Wed, Oct 16 (only JV races, but all runners are honored) then Districts the following Saturday at Medina. Should the team qualify, the following weekend will be the regional meet at Boardman High School followed by the state meet at National Trail Speedway in Hebron, OH.
