This past Saturday the Jaguars competed at the Lakeland Community College district championship and came away with 3rd place and qualified for next week's regional championship at Boardman High School. At next week's regional, the top 4 teams qualify to the state meet. The Jags finished just 7 points behind first place Mentor and 1 point behind 2nd place Madison. Conditions of the course were exceptionally muddy making everyone's day that much tougher. Mud came up to the ankles in some locations and runners in all races were wiping out at many turns.
Leading the Jags and becoming SJA's second individual champion ever was sophomore Maggie Wagner. Following Maggie to the line and earning district runner-up as just a freshman was Sydney Seymour. Sophomore Olivia Battistoni also earned "all-district" honors by finishing 11th overall. Mallory Fahey ('15), Katie Butterfield ('16q), Lauren Marconi ('15), and Victoria Bonca ('15) rounded out the district team for SJA.
