Ohio is a very competitive state for every sport, but especially distance running. To have two runners qualify to the state meet in the biggest, most competitive division is an honor and privilege, not to mention exciting! Both Maggie Wagner and Sydney Seymour qualified to the state meet for the second time in their careers and both runners competed exceptionally well.
Seymour finished 16th place overall, good enough for pictures on the podium and All-Ohio status. Her time of 18:28 was her 4th fastest time ever. Wagner finished in 36th place overall and also ran her 4th fastest time ever. To note how fast the field was this year, Wagner ran the identical time two years ago at the state meet and finished 17th place - the game has changed!
There was a great showing of fan support and the coaching staff has been fortunate to work with dedicated and loving athletes. It starts at the top with senior captains Bridget McGuire and Corinne Baker as well as junior captain Olivia Battistoni, then trickles through the rest of the team.
Congratulations to the entire team for a memorable, fun, and successful 2015 season!
